An Intrinsically Parallel Finite Element Method

چکیده
We show that the weakly over-penalized symmetric interior penalty (WOPSIP) method has high intrinsic parallelism. Consider the following model problem: Find u ∈ H 0 (Ω) such that a(u, v) = ∫ Ω fv dx ∀ v ∈ H 0 (Ω), where Ω ⊂ R is a bounded polygonal domain, f ∈ L2(Ω), and a(w, v) = ∫ Ω ∇w · ∇v dx. This problem can be solved by the weakly over-penalized symmetric interior penalty (WOPSIP) method [4, 3, 2] as follows. Let Th be a simplicial triangulation of Ω and Vh be the corresponding discontinuous P1 finite element space, i.e., Vh = {v ∈ L2(Ω) : vT = v ∣

Speeding up the Stress Analysis of Hollow Circular FGM Cylinders by Parallel Finite Element Method
In this article, a parallel computer program is implemented, based on Finite Element Method, to speed up the analysis of hollow circular cylinders, made from Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs). FGMs are inhomogeneous materials, which their composition gradually varies over volume. In parallel processing, an algorithm is first divided to independent tasks, which may use individual or shared da...
متن کاملVibration and Stability of Axially Moving Plates by Standard and Spectral Finite Element Methods
Based on classical plate theory, standard and spectral finite element methods are extended for vibration and dynamic stability of axially moving thin plates subjected to in-plane forces. The formulation of the standard method earned through Hamilton’s principle is independent of element type. But for solving numerical examples, an isoparametric quadrilateral element is developed using Lagrange ...

متن کاملFast Finite Element Method Using Multi-Step Mesh Process
This paper introduces a new method for accelerating current sluggish FEM and improving memory demand in FEM problems with high node resolution or bulky structures. Like most of the numerical methods, FEM results to a matrix equation which normally has huge dimension. Breaking the main matrix equation into several smaller size matrices, the solving procedure can be accelerated. For implementing ...
متن کاملPlastic deformation analysis in parallel tubular channel angular pressing (PTCAP)
Parallel tubular channel angular pressing (PTCAP) process is a novel recently developed severe plastic deformation technique for fabrication of ultrafine grained (UFG) metallic tubes. This new process consists of two half cycles and is affected by several parameters such as channel angles, deformation ratio and curvature angles. In this paper, the effects of these parameters on the plastic defo...
